Jien Luk (chendol) and Chai Pia at Hoho Coffee Shop

We love the jien luk at Hoho coffee shop.  There's generous amount of shaved ice and evaporated milk, red beans, etc. YUMMMMMM it's best to have them on the hot afternoon.

We went there and the owner's son was making chai pia too (See below). Of course we had to order some.

 

Here's the Jien Luk (Sibu style) All the ingredients are underneath the shaved ice.

The boys went on many of these rides while they were in Sibu. 

Aloha, here we come

After some serious shopping at Wisma Sanyan, our stomachs were rumbling and it's time for lunch again.  We went to Aloha because I wanted to eat the cha kuay tiaw from the guy who used to operate at the coffeshop in sarawak house only to found out he's sold out :S

we ordered laksa, kampua (and a pien sik arrived instead which we ate anyways while waiting for the kampua to arrive)

 

we ordered the char kuay teow from the other shop and also ordered a chao chai mi hun.  

To top all that off, we ordered a roti canai telur.

hehehehe...it's hard not to put on weight in our short  visit.

Drop in

After breakfast, we dropped into godma's law chamber :) hehehehe ..It's a shame we didn't have any decent photos taken. We were too busy yakking and the boys were busy conversing about something too.

One of mom's friends recommended this coffee shop to her.  The shop's famous for fried tong-fen and fried kampua and kuaytiaw fried with pig stomach.  So above pic was the kuay tiaw with pig stomach.  I met my cousin who works in an office above the coffee shop who joined us for breakfast.

Jake ordered the Cha Chu Mein with "he bao dan".

Fried tong fen and below is fried kampua.  They are not extraordinary but definitely something different to have than the typical kampua and what not.

I can't remember the name of the coffee shop but it's a corner lot  before the roundabout into Tong Sang Road on the left and it's side is opposite a curtain shop . Hopefully this direction makes sense.

Late night supper @ tmn muhibbah

it's not like we weren't full from Ming Mei Shi but after dropping the boys with my parents, we went out for a drive and after detour to the new bus terminal, we found our way to Tmn Muhibbah.
We bought some Cds from the CD shops before getting ourself some supper.



We ordered some deep fried kumaras [above pic] (it was disappointing) 

Fortunately these satays were good and the guy didn't have much left.  We subsequently went back to Tmn Muhibbah twice but each time they've already run out of SATAYS. Grr..it's frustrating!

Conclusion: We decided now we will only go there for SATAYS.

Dinner at Ming Mei Shi

We were in Sibu for 9 days.  So nearly every day, mom and dad wants to bring us to 'eating places' around Sibu. One of them was Ming Mei Shi (MMS), off Rejang Medical Centre.
The restaurant is owned by the chef of now defunct Blue Splendour.

Anyhow, it was jammed pack and guess who we bumped into. Alf and family, his dad, sister, brothers and their family.

We had the curry fish head. Pretty nice. Curry was more on the sweet side rather than spicy.
 

Next was the okras (ladies finger) with dried shrimps and mum and dad also ordered the wet noodles for the boys.

Haircut and balloons

Abel also got his hair cut. He was very reluctant to have his hair cut (note his facial expression in one of the pic) Even with the balloons, he didn't want to sit on the hairdressing chair. He subsequently fell asleep and had his hair cut in his sleep.

Noel getting haircut at my cousin's in Sibu. He was so excited as my cousin put glitters and temporary fudge and in the evening refused to shower because he'd worried his glitter might be washed off .

Conversation with 2.5 years old

This is a conversation between Abel and me:

Abel: I know where clock lives.

Me: Where? 

Abel: On the wall.

Me: (thinking, how very profound:P )

Abel: I know where car lives.

Me: Where?

Abel: On the road.

Abel: Where does Bob Builder lives?  (Abel tends to shorten words or names, so Bob Builder should be Bob the Builder)

Me: Where?

Abel: Don't know.

Me: In his house?

Jalan-jalan Cari Makan - Sibu

This is the 'siew mai'/'sio bee' Sibu version. They are very different from the HK version. This is best eaten piping hot.

The mandatory Char Mein -Wet version

This is something new. Kampua with fried chicken. My verdict, it's pretty tasty but I must prefer the traditional version with the thin slice of char siew pork.
